Recently, GlucoMe entered into a pilot collaboration agreement with Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany to assess GlucoMe’s digital diabetes platform across a number of hospitals in Vietnam. The project has started in August 2018, and it is currently evaluating the advantages of GlucoMe’s digital diabetes care against the current system in Vietnam.

Both the companies have selected Vietnam for the project because according to the Vietnam Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology - VADE, the country has the fastest growing rate of diabetes in Southeast Asia. The country has a population of 92.7 million (World Bank), out of which 5 million people or 5.4 percent have diabetes. The reason behind this alarming number is the lack of proper care and resources to monitor and treat diabetes patients at local community health centers. GlucoMe’s platform has the potential to trigger an overall paradigm shift in the treatment of diabetes in Vietnam and across emerging markets, through the help of cutting-edge technology.
